About Amy

Over the last 20 years Amy has been ceaselessly capturing her favorite subjects. Amy's pictures appear in print, in retail stores, and in marketing and advertising materials. Her work has been exhibited in galleries in New York and throughout the Bay Area.

Amy's style is influenced by her experience in both fine art photography and commercial advertising. Amy Perl Photography took root when Amy became bored with sterile, corporate art and was able to bring the timeless aesthetic of her fine art photography to her portrait work as well as into her commercial portfolio. In her personal work Amy creates still lives of discovered objects, some forgotten and some prized. In all of her photographs, you find a particular sense of Americana.

Amy's commissioned work ranges from babies, children, families, and pets. Taking children's portraits is most fun for Amy. She received her "kid training" as an Art Director for babyGap and GapKids, before becoming a mother herself. With Amy's own children came new inspiration and a lot more practice shooting captive subjects.

Amy is known for being relaxed, easygoing, and flexible. She has a comfortable, hands-on approach when shooting, which helps to allow children and their parents to be uninhibited in front of the camera. People are so different, and it’s most important to Amy that she capture one's true personality. As a busy mom with children of her own, she knows the value of a loose spirit and a silly attitude.

Amy truly enjoys her work. Being invited into her clients' private spaces, and capturing their love and honest expression is what most fulfills her.

Thank you for your interest in Amy Perl Photography.
